Friday Flashcard: A Spanish Flashcard for Your New Year’s Resolution!

Hello everyone, and happy Friday! Today we have a Spanish flashcard for you that is perfect for the new year. Don’t get us wrong, we love New Year’s Resolutions! The dawning of a new year fills us with energy and motivation, and we start the day on January 1 determined to stick to them. But…more often than not, by this point in the month we’re already starting to feel our resolve slipping. And we know we’re not alone in that! After all, if deciding to say “adios “to our resolution wasn’t common, there wouldn’t be a Ditch New Year’s Resolution Day on January 17, the day by which many of us have already decided to throw in the towel. It is estimated that by February, as many as 80% of us will have decided to forgo continuing with our resolution. But this year, we are determined to stick to our resolutions! Today’s flashcard is a great reminder that you can do anything you set your mind to. The phrase is “Tú puedes,” in Spanish, which means “You can do it,” in English. If learning a new language is your resolution this year, there are many great ways to work practice into your daily life. We’re fans of language labels, labeling items around the house with the word in the target language. We also like finding a great show or series online that we can watch to practice listening. Being entertained makes it feel less like work and more like fun! We’ve also found that setting small and measurable goals of studying 15-20 min a day makes the process seem much less overwhelming, and the goal more feasible. What are some of the ways you stick to your resolutions? No matter where you are, we hope that you enjoy your weekend and are already having tons of success in the new year. If you are struggling with your goals, remember “¡Tú puedes!” Have a great weekend and see you next week!
