Apples for Fall

As the summer slowly turns to fall in our part of the world and everyone heads back to school , we’re looking forward to participating in our favorite fall traditions. So for the next several weeks we’re going to be getting ready by studying lots of fall related vocab words! Today’s vocab word is a great one, especially if you love to pick apples like we do. Apples are not only delicious, they’re also a thoughtful gift for a favorite teacher. Perfect for back to school! So here is the word we’re studying this week, 苹果 (píng guǒ) which is Mandarin Chinese for apple. We hope that wherever you are, you’re enjoying your own favorite traditions as the seasons change. Happy studying!

Back to the Books!

Whether it’s filled with foreign language learning books (we hope! 🙂 ) or with math, science, history or any other number of subjects, there’s nothing like carrying around a backpack full of textbooks to let you know that school is back in session.  Here at Winter in Olympus we remember well the feeling of a beginning of a new school year and all of those books! So in honor of the all-important backpack, today we’re studying the word backpack in Spanish “la mochila.” We hope that wherever you are, you’re enjoying the back to school season and looking forward to hitting the books for a new year. Happy studying!
